Luna Vineyards Appellation Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
A blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Petite Sirah, this well-structured wine has enticing aromas of currants, violets and black cherries wrapped up in a cedar box. Complex on the palate, that begins with a hint of anise, and leads to juicy red berries touched with black pepper and finishing with supple tannins.
Background
The 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from the West Side of the renowned, St. Helena sub-appellation including both valley floor and hillside fruit. Petite Sirah from rocky river beds in Yountville was added to give layers of complexity and plush tannins. Grapes were harvested in October and fermented for 3 weeks at warm temperatures for optimal flavour and tannin extraction. The wine was pressed off skins and aged in 50% new French oak until bottling.
